About Davis & Elkins College

Davis & Elkins College, also knwon as simply D&E, is a small residential liberal arts college located in Elkins, which is a city in the US state of West Virginia, that serves as the county seat of Randolph County, having a population estimated at a number of more than 7000 inhabitants, during the 2000 census.

D&E was established in in 1904 and it is affiliated with the Presbyterian Church. It currently offers its students `more than 30 academic programs leading to baccalaureate and associate degrees, ranging from the traditional arts and sciences to professional studies - including nursing and teacher education - as well as innovative programs such as hospitality management and tourism.`

Athletics

D&E's sports teams are known as the Senators and they compete in 8 sports, for both men and women, in NCAA Division II.

James E. Allen, Jr. - educator, Paul Russell Cutright - American historian and biologist, Tobi Stoner - professional baseball player, Judson Hudson - professional football player, drafted in 1940 by the NFL's Chicago Cardinals, Dr. Gloria Payne - Professor and Chair of Business Administration at D&E. D&E's longest serving professor (65 years of service to the College) and Press Maravich - professional basketball player, college coach and father of `Pistol` Pete Maravich are D&E College's noteworthy alumni.
